Dr. Markesha Miller

Accomplished, humble and “marked” for success, Dr. Markesha Miller has made her life’s work to empower women, communities, children and enrich families. As a Licensed Psycho-therapist (North and South Carolina) , and Licensed Supervisor, Consultant and Certified Family Court Mediator, Certified Hypno-therapist, and Psychological Autopsy Investigator, Miller is committed to making sure our families and communities are healthy, happy and strong. A fifteen-year court appointed special advocate (CASA) and frequent lecturer and presenter at conferences, universities and expert to various media outlets, such as FOX News, CNN,  NBC, etc.  Miller answers the call daily to provide her expertise across numerous platforms.  She has been featured in The New York Times, Cosmopolitan, Women’s Health, Allure, InStyle, and many other major outlets.

Miller is a 2000 graduate of the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Arts in English & Psychology, with additional degrees in Counselor Education (2003) and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Counselor Education and Supervision (2010). Qualified and committed, Dr. Miller is the Owner and Director of Holistic Psychological & Associates and an adjunct professor with University of South Carolina. Dr. Miller is the former host of Therapy Thursdays on WACH-TV 57 and present host of “On the Mark with Dr. Markesha Miller”, which is currently in syndication.

Over the past 18 years, she has published on various issues ranging from multicultural pedagogy to wellness, and participated in national, regional and state-wide presentations on topics ranging from multicultural education issues (undergraduate and graduate students) to examining the various educational, cultural and environmental issues that are unique to women of color. Miller is committed. This commitment is to not only to educate, research and lecture but a passion to educate the public about various mental health issues that plague our families and communities. Miller currently serves on various boards throughout South Carolina, including National Alliance on Mental Illness. Currently Dr. Miller has recently begun a national tour to bring awareness to mental health issues and to cure the stigma.  She is also the founder of The Marguerite C. Blackwell Foundation which works to address disparities of mental health, education, medical needs, and financial literacy in rural areas.

Miller is committed to her profession, community and the fabric of our communities……family. When not changing the world through counseling, lecturing and serving, Miller enjoys writing, family time, and traveling. You can catch Dr. Miller every week on a local station near you.

A native of Pageland, SC, Miller currently resides in Columbia, SC with her husband, Samuel A. Fuller and their adorable Toy Poodle, Cole.
